Howdy! It’s a suitcase cat bed!
10 Nov
Some posts back I blogged about the world’s most awesome cat beds – and after a while (as always tends to happen) I came to the conclusion that we could easily make one ourselves.
So I found a vintage suitcase…

Took the legs off an old footstool…

Grabbed the leftover fabric from the reupholstering of our Parker Knoll…

Petted this cat…

And, with the other half’s help, this was the end result:

Yes, we have spoiled cats…

…but at least they’re cool spoiled cats

P.S. The suitcase bed is proving so popular we may have to make two!
P.P.S. Thanks to Daydreams in Lace for the blog award – very sweet of you. Will get round to passing it on soon

Wow, I love it and I am so pleased the cats like it too. I’m not sure my cat would appreciate such a thing as he does rounds of everyones bed, sofa and even bath mat.
Oooh I’m LOVING both the chair and the cat bed! You can tell the cats love it too – they’re both looking very smug
That is so frickin cool. Considering you are in Edinburgh, they need the warmth of a suitcase cat bed I think!
You’ve a dark tort – she is beautiful. We’ve got two so I’ve a bit of a soft spot for them. Rx
OMG! We didn’t know she was a ‘dark tort’! We got her about 2 years ago from a shelter and they were trying to convince us she was Persian. But as she looks like an owl crossed with a ferret and a fox, we were just assuming she was just a bit random! And now she has a breed! ;D
Oh sorry no that’s not her breed thats her colour! She is dark tortoiseshell. hehehe sorry you got so excited. She does look like she could have some persian in her though.
Oh well, never mind! We haven’t broken the news to her yet… she seemed quite happy to have a breed
Cool cat bed! I’d love to make one for mine but I don’t think he has any intention of giving up his spot on my bed.
You are far too clever, my dear! What a great little ‘home’ your special cat has.
Wow, how jealous is the leno that you’ve publicly said you petted fizzle?! Looks cool though! X
oooh that last photo is so cute! Brilliant idea. I love it! xoxo
wow, your cats go in things you make for them?! ours just get in boxes that we don’t want them to, on top of wardrobes, and just generally don’t come in at tea time. but i have trained them (god knows how) to sit/lie on a towel in the hall when they’re wet and muddy to dry off. they automatically head for it now, and look lost when its not there!
….what Amy said! Awesome bed, tho — that is the most perfect lining. The little grey kitty looks just like my Charlie only since he likes to get under things he’d probably pull the top down and glare at everyone through a little crack.
That is so adorable!
Laura, Amy, Rebecca, Marg – have to say it doesn’t stop them wanting to sleep in our bed, just gives them another option of another place to sleep!
Serena – our grey one is definitely smug in that pic – the littler one actually has a look of ‘don’t you dare’ as she watching the other one approach the bed in that shot!
Marg – maybe it’s a grey cat thing – our grey one likes to pull the top down on boxes etc while she’s in them – that’s the main reason we kept the suitcase lid on!
awesome! i love this and by the looks of so too do the spoiled cats : )
oh wow! I love the cat bed and your chair!! very impressive!
now my chair makeover feels a little feeble…..
so cute!!!!
